For this design the background was created from diamond shaped pattern going along the entire image. The Foreground was made with a variety of circles overlapping the diamonds.

The Foreground is colored using analogous colors that switch from red to orange, and green to blue. Darker colors are used in the background to make the circles pop out and give the piece depth. Black and white are used on the outside as a border to show that they are the mid-ground, not fully in the back but not as close as the circles foreground.
